Keno In the Void

During Kids Love Jazz 2025, I decided to do some long exposures. I was backstage, cross-legged on a bunch of sound cables, and watching Esihle Valela play his saxophone wildly before the crowd in the Homecoming Centre. I imagined the music pouring forth from the instrument and into the air above the people, and in that moment, I wanted to capture more than just what I saw with my eyes. Zwide Ndwandwe was playing his bass just as wildly behind Esihle, and so I began to slow-shutter release, morphing Zwide to fill the space. Soon I had an image of the music itself. Soon tried with with Keno, and sent him speeding through the void with his drumkit.
